The Circumnavigation Towards Exhaustion series is woven from strips of Amazon delivery boxes and NASA satellite images of the Earth, Moon, and Mars, edited in Photoshop to resemble Abraham Ortelius’ Theatrum Orbis Terrarum (1570), the first true modern atlas. The patterns highlight mining sites of natural resources like lithium and coltan used in electronics, and locate the infrastructure (undersea internet cables, the power grid) that wires our virtual world.
